June is Pride Month
We first want to highlight the Crip Crap podcast co-hosted and co-produced by Kennedy Healy and Justin Cooper.
Here’s audio for Episode 23.4 from December 2023 called Ableism and Trans Rights Past and Present with Joy Michael Ellison. Access the transcript in Google Docs. There’s some fantastic history and storytelling with Joy, author of Sylvia and Marsha Start a Revolution, a children’s picture book about the Stonewall Rebellion.
And here’s a listing of accessible virtual Pride events, shared by The Bi Pan Library of online events primarily based on the US.
Back to grilled cheese
Back in April, we put the grilled cheese challenge out there as a creative prompt for d/Deaf and disabled podcasters. And here’s some grilled cheese for you! Cheryl, one of the co-founders of POD Access, created My Grandma’s Grill where Dr. Sara M. Acevedo reflects on her grandma's grill, the loss of connection to her childhood foods, and a changing, chronically ill body. Audio and transcript are on Cheryl’s website. Now we’re passing the side-of-fries baton. Any other d/Deaf or disabled podcasters want to take the creative prompt and make a story or episode about grilled cheese?
